A lot has happened with the Knicks in the past few years, and the team's roster is now almost completely different than just a few years ago.
Here are the players from the 2020 Knicks roster and where they are now:
Julius Randle - Julius Randle who was a 3x All-Star with the Knicks was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves this past offseason. He is still playing very well with his new team, averaging 21 Points, 7 Rebounds, and 4 Assists, on 50% Shooting.
RJ Barrett - RJ Barrett had some solid years playing for the Knicks but he definitely didn't exceed expectations or anything like that. Around this time last year, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors, where he has been playing very well recently. With the Raptors, he is averaging 24 Points, 7 Rebounds, and 6 Assists while making 46% of his shots.
Immanuel Quickley - Immanuel Quickley was a great player off the bench for the Knicks, but he was sent away in the same trade as RJ Barrett. He is currently averaging 15 Points and 4 Assists with the Raptors.
Obi Toppin - Obi Toppin, a Knick fan favorite, was traded to the Indiana Pacers on July 7th, 2023. He is playing pretty well with the team averaging 10 Points, 4 Rebounds, and 2 Assists, in 20 minutes off the bench.
Taj Gibson - Taj Gibson, one of the oldest players in the NBA, currently plays for the Charlotte Hornets. He plays about 10 minutes a game, averaging 3 points and 4 rebounds.
Kevin Knox - Kevin Knox currently plays for the Golden State Warriors G-League Team, where he averages about 20 points a game.
Reggie Bullock - Last season, Reggie Bullock played for the Houston Rockets, but he played only 44 games and averaged less than 10 minutes per game. He is currently a free agent, as no team signed him this past offseason.
Mitchell Robinson - Mitchell Robinson is the only player from the 2020 Knicks who is still on the team. However, he is currently injured so he has not played at all this season, and only played in 31 games last season.
Derrick Rose - Derrick Rose, the youngest MVP in NBA history, ended his career last season with the Memphis Grizzlies. He officially announced his retirement on September 26th.
Alec Burks - Alec Burks currently plays for the Miami Heat where he averages about 5 points in 15 minutes per game with the team.
Nerlens Noel - Nerlens Noel was most recently on the Detroit Pistons but only played 14 games last season before agreeing to a contract buyout. He is currently not signed with a team.
Elfrid Payton - Elfrid Payton averaged 7 Points, 7 Assists, and 3 Rebounds, in just 7 games for the New Orleans Pelicans before being waived last Tuesday. He is expected to play in the G-league if he does not get an offer from another NBA team.
Frank Ntilikina - Frank Ntilikina was waived by the Charlotte Hornets in February 2024. He currently plays for a EuroLeague team called Partizan Belgrade, where he averages about 9 points a game.
Austin Rivers - Austin Rivers last played for the Timberwolves in 2022-23 where he averaged 5 points in 20 minutes per game. He now works as an NBA analyst at ESPN.
Dennis Smith Jr. - Dennis Smith Jr. played for the Brooklyn Nets last season where he averaged 7 points, 4 Assists, and 3 Rebounds in about 20 minutes per game. He is currently a free agent waiting to get an offer from a team.
It's crazy to see how much this Knicks team has changed in a few years but I would definitely say the front office knew what they were doing :)
