Tyler Herro, Ja Morant, and Giannis Injured in Game 1 of Playoffs.

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

Tyler Herro, Ja Morant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo all suffered major injuries in their first game of the playoffs, which could have a big impact on their team's future games.

Tyler Herro Broken Hand:

Tyler Herro's is probably the most serious out of tonight's injuries. During the Heat's game vs. the Bucks, Tyler Herro broke the middle and ring finger on his right hand.

This injury occurred when Herro dove onto the ground for a loose ball. Herro was in serious pain and attempted to run straight to the locker room, but was told he had to stay on the court until at least the end of the quarter.

Tyler Herro is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, so he will miss at least the rest of round 1 of the playoffs. Being one of the best players on the team, this injury could have a huge impact on the Heat's chances of winning the series.

Ja Morant Hand Injury:

It appears that Ja Morant tried to attempt a dunk over Anthony Davis, but jumped into him, causing him to fall and land directly onto his hand. Morant was called for an offensive foul, as Anthony Davis was able to draw the charge. After falling and holding his hand in pain, Morant went back to the locker room and did not return to the game.

Morant says that his availability for Game 2 vs the Lakers is "in jeopardy". Being the team's best player, the Grizzlies will be at a big disadvantage if Morant is not able to play.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Back Injury:

Giannis suffered an injury after a hard fall on his back in the first quarter of the Bucks' game Vs the Heat. Giannis was going in for a layup, as Kevin Love slid in front of him attempting to draw a charge.

Giannis attempted to play through the pain before leaving. He attempted to come back and play in the second quarter but had to leave again and did not return after that.

Bucks Coach, Mike Budenholzer, says they are going to take the injury "day-by-day", so we do not yet know if Giannis will be available to play in Game 2.

If Giannis' injury ends up being really serious, it will have a huge impact on the rest of the playoffs, as he was a main reason that the Bucks were favorites to win the finals.

It was quite surprising to see so many NBA stars get big injuries in 1 day, but hopefully they all heal soon and can get back to playing some good basketball.
