The Most Embarrassing Single-Game Records

While it is cool to see NBA players set new records, not all records are good things. Here are some of the most embarrassing single-game records in NBA history.

Most Shot Attempts without a Make in a Game - Tim Hardaway

On December 27th, 1991, Tim Hardaway missed all 17 of his shot attempts against the Timberwolves, setting a new record for most misses in a game without a make.

However, He did have 13 assists this game, and his team ended up winning the game anyway.

Luckily, Hardaway didn't always shoot this poorly, and now he is even in the Hall of Fame.

Most Free Throw Attempts without a Make in a Game - Shaquille O’Neal

Throughout his career, Shaq was known to not be that great of a free throw shooter (52.7%)

On December 8th, 2000 he set a new record by missing all 11 of his free throw attempts.

However, he did still finish the game with 26 Points, 17 Rebounds, and 5 Assists.

Most Turnovers in a Single Game - Jason Kidd

On November 17th, 2000 Jason Kidd had an NBA record 14 turnovers against the New York Knicks.

His team ended up losing a pretty close game with an ending score of 90-85. (so they likely could have won if he had a few fewer turnovers)

He did still have 18 points, 12 Rebounds, and 10 assists.

Apparently, someone named Mike Banton had 16 turnovers in a game back in 1982, but most sources only mention Jason Kidd. This could be because turnovers weren't tracked as much back then, so it might not be fully confirmed.

Biggest Blowout Ever - 73 Points

On December 2nd, 2021 the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder by a record-breaking 73 Points.

In this game, the Thunder only made 32.9% of their shots, while the Grizzlies made 62.5% of theirs.

The Thunder also had 19 turnovers while the Grizzlies had 10.

Most 3-Pointers Attempted in a game without a make - Brook Lopez

On November 23rd, 2018 Brook Lopez missed all 12 of his 3-point attempts in a game against the Phoenix Suns.

To make this even worse, the Bucks ended up losing by just 2 points, so if Lopez made even just 1 of his 12 attempts they would have had a pretty good chance of winning.

In the 2018 season, Brook Lopez only shot 34.5% from 3, so he probably shouldn't have taken so many attempts in the first place.
