Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo Traded?!

Knicks Recieve:

Karl-Anthony Towns

Timberwolves Receive:

Julius Randle

Donte DiVincenzo

In my opinion, this is not a good trade.

Julius Randle - While he was injured most of this season, for some reason people seem to forget just how good Randle is. In his time with the Knicks, he averaged 23 Points, 10 Rebounds, and 5 assists per game, while making almost 50% of his shots! In 5 years with the Knicks, he was a 3X All-Star, 2X All-NBA, First-ever Knick most improved player, and more!! Before getting Randle, the Knicks were one of the worst teams in the NBA, and he led them to making the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. People forget that Randle is the player who started turning the Knicks franchise around before Jalen Brunson arrived.

(also for the people that for some reason thought the team was better without Randle last season, that's incorrect. The Knicks' win percentage and points per game were both higher when Randle was playing)

Watch Randle's Iconic game-winner against the Miami Heat:

Donte DiVincenzo - DiVincenzo is one of the top 3-point shooters in the league. He had the 3rd most threes made in the entire NBA last season! He broke the record for most 3's made in a game by a Knick, and most 3's made in a season by a Knick! He was easily one of the best players off the bench in the NBA last season. Additionally, a big part of trading for Mikal Bridges was so that he could reunite with DiVincenzo, Brunson, and Hart, who all played and won the championship together in college. The 4 of them together on the court would have had great chemistry and it would have been really fun to watch, but there goes that...

Watch DiVincenzo hit one of the greatest shots in Knicks playoff history here:

Karl-Anthony Towns -

Although I don't believe it makes up for both Randle and DiVincenzo, there are a few good things about Towns:

  • After losing Isaiah Hartenstein, the Knicks were in need of another center.

  • He is a very good offensive player and rebounder

  • He is a really good shooter considering his size

  • He grew up a Knick fan

right now I am definitely not a fan of this trade, but I guess we'll see how it goes.

December 5th 2024 Update:

OK, nevermind Towns has been amazing.
