After tonight's loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Detroit Pistons have now lost 27 games in a row, the longest single-season losing streak in the history of the NBA.
Before now, the record was held by the 2013-14 76ers and the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers at 26 losses in a row.
The 2015-2016 Philadelphia 76ers also lost 28 games in a row, but this was across 2 different seasons, so it's slightly different because it wasn't the same roster both seasons.
It's been a pretty long time since the Pistons were a good team. They haven't made the playoffs in 5 years, and haven't made it past the first round in 16 years.
The Piston's best player is Cade Cunningham who was Drafted #1 overall in the 2021 NBA draft, but even he has never been an all-star.
This season Cunningham is averaging:
22.4 Points
7.1 Assists
3.9 Rebounds
These stats are pretty good, although he shoots a slightly below-average percentage, making 43.5% of his shots, and 32.1% of his 3-point attempts. He is also averaging 4 turnovers per game which is slightly above average.
(in this 27th consecutive loss, however, he did have a very impressive 41 Points, 9 Rebounds, and 5 Assists, while making 71% of his shots)
Compared to all the other NBA teams, The Pistons have the worst 3-point percentage (33.4%), the 3rd fewest points scored per game (109), and the 8th worst field goal percentage (46.5%)
The Pistons now have a record of 2-28, the worst in the league.
Hopefully, the Pistons can eventually get back to being a good team, but it doesn't seem like they are going to make it very far this year.
