Last Thursday the 2025 NBA All-Stars were announced but there were a lot of great players that didn't make it.
Here are the best players that many were surprised didn't make the all-star team:
Trae Young

Trae Young is a player who has missed being in all-star in multiple other years when people thought he should have been.
This season he is averaging 22.8 Points, 11.5 Assists, 3.3 Rebounds, and 1.3 Steals per game.
His 11.5 Assists per game is the most in the entire NBA.
However, his lack of efficiency and team record is likely a big factor in why he didn't make the team. He is only making 40% of all his shots and he averages almost 5 turnovers per game. The Hawks also have a below-average record of 22-27.
This was his reaction to not being an all-star:

Domantas Sabonis

Sabonis was not named an all-star last year or this year which came as a big surprise to many.
He is averaging impressive stats of 21 Points, 14 Rebounds, and 7 Assists per game.
His 14 rebounds per game is the most in the entire NBA, and he also makes 61% of all his shots, which is the 9th-best percentage in the NBA.
LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball who led all guards in fan voting to be an all-star starter, ended up not being named an all-star at all!
This season LaMelo Ball is averaging an impressive 28.2 Points, 7.3 Assists, 5.3 Rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
His 28.2 Points per game is the 4th highest in the entire NBA.
However, the Hornets are one of the worst teams in the NBA with a record of 12-34. His efficiency also doesn't stand out only making about 42% of his shots.
Kyrie Irving

With Luka Doncic (now on the Lakers) being injured a lot of this season, Kyrie has done a good job leading the Mavericks to still having a winning record.
This season he is averaging 24 Points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Assists, and 1 Steal per game.
He is also shooting very efficiently making 48% of his shots, 42% of his threes, and 90% of his free throws.
Kyrie's response to not being named an all-star:
"not really disappointed. It's more or less just what it is. Just accepting it and moving forward."
Devin Booker

Devin Booker is playing very well this season averaging 26 Points, 7 Assists, 4 Rebounds, and 1 Steal per game.
Booker's teammate Kevin Durant was named an all-star starter, but the team's average record probably made coaches feel that the team wasn't deserving of 2 all-stars.
Booker's reaction to not being named an all-star:
"Obviously something that I wanted to be a part of, but definitely not going to complain about taking a week to regroup with the family. It's always going to be a conversation every year - who got snubbed, who didn't - there are a lot of people deserving."
Tyrese Maxey

The 76ers aren't a great team, but with both Joel Embiid and Paul George being injured, Maxey has really stepped up playing at a very high level. This season he is averaging 28 Points, 6 Assists, 3 Rebounds, and 2 steals.

Obviously, there are lots of great players but only so many spots on the all-star roster, so not everyone can make it.
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will take place at Chase Center in San Francisco, CA, on Sunday, Feb. 16.
